CDEL CELEBRATES ITS 2016 WINTER AWARDS BENEFIT

 

 

 

The 2016 “Light Up the Loop” Winter Awards Benefit was a smashing success!  The evening celebrated CDEL’s dedicated volunteer base, honored the prestigious 2016 Award Winners and raised over $115,000 to benefit CDEL’s programs and mission of providing much needed legal assistance to the low income elderly and disabled population of Chicago and suburban Cook County.

 

CDEL Board President Anthony J. O’Neill, Williams Montgomery & John Ltd., and 2016 Winter Awards Benefit Chair and Board Member Theresa Jaffe, Theresa Jaffe Consulting, welcomed guests to the evening.

 

CDEL volunteers work diligently to check in the nearly 400 guests who attended the event.

 

Guests enjoyed the beautiful event space on the 50th floor of Baker & McKenzie LLP’s Chicago office. Baker & McKenzie has hosted “Light Up the Loop” since its inception five years ago. CDEL is very proud of its partnership with the prestigious global law firm.

 

The “Light Up the Loop” Winter Awards Benefit has become a winter networking destination for working professionals in the legal, business and judicial communities.

 

Guests sample the delicious hors d’oeuvres as they mixed and mingled and enjoyed the spectacular view from the 50th floor.

Former CDEL Board President Erin Maus, Baker & McKenzie LLP, welcomes everyone to the Awards presentation and greets the distinguished judges who attended the event.

 

Theresa Jaffe welcomes the crowd and thanks them for their support. Last year, CDEL served nearly 2600 clients and since our founding in 1984, CDEL has helped over 30,000 individuals. 

 

The Volunteer of the Year Award was presented to attorney Rachel Spector, one of CDEL’s most dedicated, long-time volunteers. She accepts the award from the Honorable Patricia Brown Holmes, President of the Chicago Bar Association. Rachel has singlehandedly provided over 1800 volunteer hours in the 6 years that she has been volunteering for CDEL.

 

The CDEL Corporate Partner of the Year Award was given to AT&T in honor of their commitment to CDEL’s Senior Center Initiative and their sponsoring of the AT&T Pro Bono Fellowship Program, which provides a full-time Fellow to CDEL each semester.  Darrell Guy, US General Counsel, accepts the Award from Gloria Santona of McDonald’s Corporation, last year’s Corporate Partner of the Year and Honorary Co-Chair of the event.

The Distinguished Service Award was presented to the Pro Bono Network for its partnership with CDEL, specifically with regards to the Senior Legal Assistance Clinics.  Donna Peel and Libby Wood accept the award from CDEL Board Member Ann Walsh, Locke Lord LLP, last year’s recipient of the Volunteer Law Firm of the Year Award.
