Eligibility for Services

The Center for Disability & Elder Law (CDEL) is a non-profit, legal services organization mandated to serve a specific clientele.  To be eligible for legal services from CDEL, a person must:

•  Live in Cook County, Illinois;
•  Have a household income at or below one hundred fifty percent (150%) of the Federal Poverty Guidelines
•  Be sixty (60) years of age or older; or
•  Live with a permanent disability.

We generally limit our practice to adult guardianships, collection defense, housing matters such as evictions and foreclosures, divorce, elder financial abuse, power of attorney documents and simple wills.

If you are seeking basic legal information or brief advice please visit Illinois Legal Aid online at Illinoislegalaid.com or CARPLS at 312-738-9200. Please note that CDEL does not assist with social security appeals or personal injury actions. Please also note that we must receive inquiries from the person seeking legal services - family members or friends cannot do so.
