CDEL Celebrates Terri Ahrens and Theresa Jaffe

This past June, CDEL transitioned the role of President of the CDEL Governing Board from Terri Ahrens of US Foods, Inc, to Theresa Jaffe of Theresa Jaffe Consulting. Both Terri and Theresa have dedicated many years of leadership and service to CDEL and its mission.

Please join all of us at CDEL in thanking Terri for her service as President. Please also join in congratulating Theresa as she’s transitioned into the role of President of CDEL’s Governing Board.

CDEL recognized Terri Ahrens at a reception in August for her exemplary commitment to CDEL's Mission. Pictured, from left to right are CDEL President, Theresa Jaffe; CDEL’s Immediate Past President, Terri Ahrens; and CDEL Executive Director, Caroline Manley.

Terri Ahrens
US Foods, Inc.
Immediate Past President,
CDEL Board of Directors

Terri Ahrens is Assistant General Counsel, Litigation, at US Foods, Inc., and has served as President of CDEL’s Board of Directors since 2016. She has been involved with CDEL since 2006, when she first volunteered as a pro bono attorney and steadily became more involved with CDEL over the years and became a member of CDEL’s Young Professionals Board in 2008. She joined CDEL’s Board of Directors in 2011 where she also served as Secretary and Vice President. During her tenure as President, Terri oversaw CDEL’s move to a new office, the appointment of a new Executive Director, and steered CDEL through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic. Terri will remain on CDEL’s Governing Board as a board member and we look forward to her continued service.

On reflecting on her time as President, Terri had this to say: “It has been such a privilege to serve as CDEL’s Board President for the past six years. Over that time, I am most proud of CDEL’s continued growth mindset and the fact that we continue to expand our reach despite doing so through the most challenging of times during the pandemic. Under Caroline Manley’s leadership, and with the assistance of her amazing and knowledgeable staff, dedicated Board Members, fantastic volunteer network and committed community partners, CDEL has continued to thrive at its mission of helping the elderly and those with disabilities receive much-needed legal services. I cannot wait to see what Caroline and my fellow board-colleague and friend Theresa Jaffe have in store for CDEL’s future.”

Theresa Jaffe is Founder and President of Theresa Jaffe Consulting and is the current President of CDEL’s Governing Board. She has been a decades long supporter of CDEL serving on the board of directors in the 1980’s when CDEL was the Legal Clinic for the Disabled. She remained involved as a supporter of CDEL’s mission over the years and returned in 2012 to volunteer her years of fundraising and marketing expertise to create and chair CDEL’s flagship annual fundraising event, the “Light Up the Loop” Winter Awards Benefit. The event has become a major revenue source for CDEL. Theresa also established and chaired CDEL’s Individual Giving Program.  She joined the CDEL Board of Directors in 2013 and has served as Vice President of the Governing Board, Chair of CDEL’s Fundraising Committee and a member of its Executive Committee.

As President, Theresa will work to expand upon the strong foundation that Terri built for CDEL’s services. “I am deeply honored to serve as CDEL’s Board President,” stated Theresa. “Working with Terri Ahrens these past six years has been a privilege. We have a tremendously committed Board of Directors, a dedicated and highly professional staff led by Caroline Manley and outstanding community partners. I look forward to working with the entire team as we continue to help CDEL be more visible and understood, supported and appreciated by all.”
