Giving publicly-traded stock to CDEL is another way to make a sizable gift and receive tax benefits. By donating the stock directly to CDEL, there are no capital gains tax to pay. Plus, you are still eligible to deduct the full fair-market value of the asset you donated from your income taxes, based on the value of the date of transfer, up to the overall amount allowed by the IRS.
