CDEL's Housing Preservation Program Holds TODI Workshop at HANA Center

CDEL interns and Kirkland & Ellis LLP volunteers at CDEL's 6/23/25 HPP workshop at the HANA Center

Last week, CDEL’s Housing Preservation Program (HPP) held a Will & TODI workshop at the HANA Center. Korean interpreters and Kirkland & Ellis LLP volunteers joined CDEL staff and interns to help CDEL’s clients with their wills and Transfer on Death Instruments. CDEL's HPP provides legal assistance to cost-burdened senior homeowners with issues including title correction, property tax matters, foreclosure and building code violation defense, and succession planning, helping to ensure seniors' ability to age in place.

CDEL Guardianship Help Desk Spotlight

CDEL Guardianship Help Desk Volunteers Darryl Lim and Tom Broderick at CDEL's Daley Center Help Desk

CDEL's Guardianship Help Desk programming includes a remote help desk, an in-person help desk at the Daley Center, and mobile workshops in high schools. Because of the many wonderful CDEL guardianship help desk volunteers, like Darryl Lim and Tom Broderick (pictured), our guardianship help desk was able to complete over 600 appointments in 2024.

CDEL's dedicated guardianship help desk volunteers assist the public both virtually and in person in completing the necessary paperwork for filing petitions for adult guardianship of the person. The petitioners will represent themselves throughout the guardianship process, but CDEL will provide guidance in completing the forms and tasks needed to be finalized for presentation of the petition to the court.
