CDEL Alert About Changes to SNAP Effective December 1, 2025 |
Many people who receive SNAP benefits will have to engage in work requirements. Exceptions exist for people older than 64 and/or people who are medically certified as physically or mentally unable to work. Even if they fall within the exceptions, people may have to take extra steps with the Illinois Department of Human Services to verify their continued eligibility. We invite you to learn more and find out how you can help at CDEL's website: https://www.cdelaw.org/snap-benefits-comments

CDEL Community Clinic Spotlight |
So much of the service CDEL provides is in the community. We strive to serve our clients where they are, in the communities they live. With the help of volunteers, CDEL holds monthly appointments for our clients at one of nine sites across Chicago and Cook County, including at the Center on Addison (pictured). We also operate at our embedded clinics in the Auburn Gresham and Austin neighborhoods. CDEL staff attorneys Kate Milvert, Marlo Pahl, and Program Coordinator Kaitlyn Rubinstein are instrumental in keeping these clinics running!

We could not do the work we do or have the reach we have without our community partners who generously host CDEL at their sites. We invite you to learn more about CDEL and our Community Clinic program on CDEL’s website: https://www.cdelaw.org/community-clinics |

CDEL Shares New Strategic Plan with Community Partners and Stakeholders |
As CDEL launches its Strategic Plan., we’re meeting with valued supporters like Program Officer Tyrina Newkirk at the Illinois Equal Justice Foundation (IEJF). It’s such a privilege to share our vision and engage with knowledgeable partners who delve into our next steps with enthusiasm and encouragement. We celebrate these relationships that bring so much to our work. From the Strategic Planning summit with 61 individuals who care deeply about CDEL to the launch and execution of this new phase of CDEL’s future, we are proud and grateful to have IEJF in our community.
